Armour type used reflected the warrior’s grit and hierarchy in the troops. Every army had its signature armour, made with steel, iron, leather etc. Armour comprises of pieces protecting the head, shoulder, arm, body and legs.

Armour- Helmet

Various types of helmets were in use historically, depending on the type and purpose served.

Specifications:

  • Available in mild steel, stainless steel, brass, and titanium, with brass decorations.
  • Mostly made with 18mm sheet thicknessĀ

Aventail

It’s chainmail that extends from the helmet. Predominantly used with a bassinet.

Bevor

It’s a metal piece that covers the jaw and neck. Used with a bassinet or sallet.

Gorget

It’s a steel collar that protects the front and back of the neck, and parts of the sternum.

Pixane

It’s a leather or chainmail poncho, covering the neck, shoulder, and back.

Specifications:

  • Made in brass, steel and chainmail. Large and medium sizes available.
  • Sheet thickness of 28mm gauge is made.

Customization of size and material is done on demand.

Armour- Torso

Specification:

  • Made in Stainless steel, mild steel, and titanium.
  • Size and carvings on the armour are customizable. 16/18 mm gauge thickness is used.

Brigadine

It’s made of leather with steel plates riveted to the leather.

Hauberk

It’s a chainmail armour that covers the torso and hip. It covers the arms too.

Cuirass

It’s a metal armour that covers the chest. This is worn in layers with a plackart or faults.

Culet

It’s a small metal piece that is attached to the cuirass to protect the lower back.

Tasset

It’s a metal plate worn with faults to protect the thigh/ upper leg.

Poleyn

The metal piece covers the knee with fins to cover any gaps. This evolved from chainmail to metal.

Greave

Greve covers the lower leg, front, and back. It is made of both chainmail and metal.

Sabaton

Protects the foot. Made of bothe chainmail and metal.
